Tammy Dyson is a licensed cosmetologist whose real passion is hunting for vintage clothing. Her growing collection ended up on display in her Beech Grove salon – but she understood that the clothes were begging for a more receptive audience.

Tammy Dyson, who also answers to "Bettie" (an homage to legendary model Bettie Page: see tattoo) at her new store, Harloh's...A Page from the Past.
“I wanted to be in an artsy area with people who will appreciate them as much as I do,” Dyson said Aug. 1 when she quietly opened her store – Harloh’s…A Page from the Past – in the historic and long underused bank building at the corner of College and Virginia avenues in Fletcher Place.
The inventory at Harloh’s includes clothing, plus accessories such as hats, purses, jewelry and shoes. There’s also “just fun stuff,” Dyson said, such as eyeglasses and even some once-fashionable bathing suits. All dates from the 1920s to the ’80s, with Dyson emphasizing that the clothes are repaired and cleaned before going on display.
“We only feature the best of the best,” she said, “which we bring back to as close to their original condition as possible.”
Hours of the new store are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays (and even longer on First Fridays), 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays.
Harloh’s…A Page from The Past is located at 630 Virginia Avenue in a 1924 flatiron structure with glazed white terra cotta and a round arched entry at the corner. From 1925 until 1933, the building served as the Virginia Avenue State Bank.
