A coffeehouse has come to Fall Creek Place. William Powell, owner of the Monon Coffee Co., a Broad Ripple mainstay, is operating the 30-seat spot at the southwest corner of Central Avenue and 25th Street.
The early response has been supportive, said Powell. “The people in the neighborhood say they’re excited to have a place like this,” he said. “Now, it’s really about getting the word out.”
For now, the Monon Coffee Co. is open 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays. Powell stresses those hours will expand as needed.
The coffeehouse shares the space on the north end of retail development with another new venture, Indy’s Kitchen, the city’s first commercial kitchen rental outlet. Powell is a partner in that venture with Linda Gilkerson and Tom Abeel, a Woodruff Place couple; and Paul Pickett.
Powell said he has mulled over establishing a second location for the Monon Coffee Co. for some time, but was spurred by the opportunity presented in Fall Creek Place. “I gave myself a good deal” on the coffeehouse space, Powell said with a smile.
