Flying Cupcake coming to Mass Ave

Anyone who has visited The Flying Cupcake at its North Illinois Street store will feel right at home at its new Mass Ave location, scheduled to open by the middle of March.

“It will be the exact same experience,” said Kate Bova, owner of the store which will be located at 715 Mass Ave in a 600-square-foot space most recently occupied by Slinky boutique. The space sits between Sage boutique and the Metro Night Club and Restaurant, and is also alongside the route of the Indianapolis Cultural Trail as it crosses Mass Ave and turns down an historic alley which runs behind the Scholar’s Inn.

Bova said the new bakery will have two full cases of cupcakes, a small amount of seating, and other retail items. By summer, she plans to add ice cream to the menu.

While some baking will be done in the small store, most of that work will continue at the store located at 5617 N. Illinois St. the past 2½ years.

Bova also owns Girly Chic Boutique at 841 E. Westfield Boulevard in Broad Ripple.
