LONG-TIME FRIENDS BRIAN LAYTON and Michael Haskett, with a combined 34 years of experience in the hair care business, have partnered to open Be Salon in the St. Joseph neighborhood.
“With lots of help from friends and family, many hours of sweat and challenges, we feel that we have proved to ourselves that even in a tough economy entrepreneurship is still possible,” they said after the salon’s May 1 opening at 970-D Fort Wayne Ave.
A formal grand opening celebration is scheduled for Friday, June 5.
That space was most recently home to the Center Stage Cafe in the historic Buschman Block building, also home of Invoke Yoga and Pilates. The two men renovated the space in six weeks, with a plan “to create an open environment that feels fresh and inviting yet has an urban, ‘city’ feel.”
Be Salon offers personalized cuts, colors and styles. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.
Booth space is available for more hair stylists.
